United Way, a volunteer-driven organization that focuses on uniting communities to tackle the issues that affect them the most, hosts an annual Day of Caring event in which they ask communities to take a day to volunteer at various locations. This year, a group of 17 employees from our Columbia JES Holdings office had the pleasure of volunteering for United Way’s Day of Caring on Friday, September 7, 2018 at the Food Bank for Central and Northeast Missouri.
The Food Bank for Central and Northeast Missouri helps to gather and distribute millions of pounds of food each year. By partnering with other groups in Missouri, they are able to turn $1 into $21 worth of groceries. An important part of this process is having volunteers help turn the bulk food they receive into individual servings. During the Day of Caring event, our team partnered with other community members to help package bulk pasta for a total of six hours. JES employees, along with the other helpers in the community, packaged a total of 15,000 pounds of food!
Thank you again to all our volunteers that took time out of their schedules to help two great causes.
