Celebration includes debut of the Jeffrey E. Smith Character and Leadership Center area
On Friday, October 26, a celebration was held in honor of the brand new Youth Development Center for the Boys and Girls Club in Columbia, Missouri located at 1200 N. Street, near Hickman High School. The celebration was open to the community and included a Chamber of Commerce Ribbon Cutting Ceremony, dedication of the Jeffrey E. Smith Character and Leadership Center, a reception and tours of the new facility.
“I am very impressed with the support and activities provided to the boys and girls,” said Jeffrey E. Smith, President and CEO of JES Holdings. “I am honored to have the Character and Leadership program as a legacy and I hope the community continues to support the Boys and Girls Club.” Mr. Smith is long-time supporter of the Boys and Girls Club. He has generously supported the operating and capital campaigns for the program for decades. Mr. Smith also underwrites the Jeffrey E. Smith Youth of the Year program.
The passion the staff has for the programs was evident in the tours with Mr. Smith. “I am so impressed with the types of programs Boys and Girls Club is able to provide the kids on such a limited budget,” said Mr. Smith. “This new building and design is a excellent facility for continuing to grow these young people on a path to success.”
Through generous donations and community support, the Boys and Girls Club was able to raise $800,000 to fund the new activity center. With an original goal of $950,000, the Club nearly reached the projected amount to cover costs and will continue accepting donations to put towards the Development Center.
JES Holdings is a proud supporter of the Boys & Girls Club and a donor in support of the new Youth Development Center. JES Holdings will continue to support the Boys and Girls Club with fundraising efforts throughout the upcoming year.
