Gardening 101: The Basics for Beginners

With spring in the air, now is the perfect time to begin your gardening. Below are a few tips from almanac.com to help get your garden in shape!

Spacing is Everything

The key to growing healthy vegetables involves something you may not think of first: spacing. If you plant your vegetables too close together, you could end up with vegetables that never get their proper nutrients. By spacing apart vegetables, we end up with healthier, more nutritious vegetables.

Water, but Do Not Over Water

As everyone knows, the key to growing any sort of plant is to water them. When does watering become too much? Most vegetables only require watering just twice a week. The key to knowing if your vegetable needs more water is to get in there and feel the soil. When the soil sticks together, you do NOT need to add any more water to your vegetable!

Sunny Side Up

Just like us, a vegetable enjoys the spring sun. In order to get the most out of our seeds, we must make sure our plants get as much sun as they can. Unlike watering, a plant can get sun all day long! The more sun plants get- the more delicious vegetables you get to eat.

Now that you are have tips for a great harvest, get out there and enjoy your rewards!
