Inaugural Southeastern Regional Tax Challenge sponsored by JES Holdings

AEP Underwriter Matt Covington, FWM Controller Megan Toalson, AEP Senior Accountant Lance Simons, AEP Controller, Eric Keith, JES Controller Dana Patrick, JES Strategic Communications Coordinator Blair Jones, AEP Vice President Christie Haynes, AEP Transaction Intern Sam Steelman and AEP Financial Analyst Ellen Vossbrink attend the Inaugural Southeastern Regional Tax Challenge Dinner.

The University of Missouri’s School of Law and School of Business joined together to host the Inaugural Southeastern Regional Tax Challenge on February 10 and 11, 2017. Fourteen teams of two to three law and accounting students from universities throughout the Southeastern Conference (SEC) came to compete against each other to win a $3,000 cash prize.

Each team presented their solutions to a complicated tax transaction problem to a panel of judges from across the country. One of the distinguished judges was AEP Vice President Christie Haynes.

Ms. Haynes stated, “Watching schools of the SEC come together for the first Southeastern Tax Challenge was a great experience. The Accounting and Law Schools of each SEC school brought different aspects and insights to the challenge. The students were excited and brought a great level of intensity!”
