In honor of the late Norma Sutherland Smith, a deed of gift was given by Jeffrey E. Smith Investment Co., L.C. to the City of Columbia for the Norma Sutherland Smith Memorial Park. The park is situated on approximately 50 acres of land on the west side of Brown Station Road in Columbia, Missouri. The beautiful park has a 2.8 acre pond, 0.3 mile lake trail, picnic pavilion, playground, skate park, basketball court, baseball and softball practice fields.
Mrs. Smith lived in Columbia her entire life. She graduated salutatorian from Hickman High School in 1937 and was secretary of the senior class. She was also a graduate of Christian College. Mrs. Smith was very active in the Columbia community, a member of Missouri United Methodist Church where she served on the church board for several years.
