Columbia, Missouri is home to hundreds of Ukrainian refugees who have been displaced from their home countries. In most cases, these refugees arrive in their new home without any possessions. The City of Refuge, a non-profit organization created to help refugees and immigrants recover and regain control of their lives, is a source of daily necessities for many of these refugee families.
The Bedford Big Hearts, an active community service group at The Village of Bedford Walk, recently hosted a car wash fundraiser to raise money to help refugees in the area. The group earned more than double their original goal and now have enough funds to co-host a baby shower with the City of Refuge for six expectant refugee mothers in Columbia, Missouri. In preparation for the shower, the group will also be collecting basic need items for each mother throughout the month of August.
We are so proud of all the work The Bedford Big Hearts is doing to serve the community. To read more about their projects, visit their Facebook page linked here.
