University of Missouri Investment Group’s Trip to Chicago

JES Holdings has a strong relationship with the University of Missouri through the Jeffrey E. Smith Institute of Real Estate and Capital Markets, and has the opportunity to invest in students’ success throughout each year.

This year, students from the University of Missouri Investment Group (UMIG) traveled to Chicago, Illinois. UMIG is a student-run organization that is sponsored by The Jeffrey E. Smith Institute. The institute funds many of the group’s activities, including trips and Wall Street Prep courses, in an effort to help these highly motivated students find internships or full time positions in the investment banking industry.

According to the website, UMIG works to “create an environment where like-minded individuals can discuss the stock market and how to improve their individual trading strategies.” One of the group’s main focuses is to help guide students as they strive to secure Wall Street careers in investment banking or hedge fund positions.

With the help of the institute, UMIG was able to go on their trip to Chicago to network with professionals in the industry. Students visited professionals from the following firms: William Blair & Company, Robert W. Baird & Co., Duff & Phelps, Piper Jaffray, CME Group, RJ OASIS, Livingstone Partners, Metropolitan Capital, Morningstar, Inc, and H.I.G. Capital.
