We plan to continue to participate in the race and support Ryan’s team for years to come,” said Monica. The members of the “Running for Ryan” team raised more than $50,000 this year with over $135,000 raised year to date.

An estimated 75,000 spectators lined the scenic seven mile course. Charlene was overly impressed by the outpouring of support from the residents of Falmouth. “The most beautiful sight of all was the oversized American flag runners saw as they crested a steep hill during the last half mile of the race. Set against the backdrop of beautiful Cape Cod, it served as a reminder of the many blessings we have.”

JES Carnival-17 - smallPrior to the race, JES employees participated in fundraising events to support the “Running for Ryan” team. By far, the most popular event was the Dunk Your Director competition. Donations were accepted in a competition to put department directors into a dunk tank at the JES Family Barbecue held this month. The top three directors who raised the most money went into the dunk tank! The remainder of the funds were raised through ice cream sales, pizza bread and meatball sub lunches, bingo, and jean day Fridays with all proceeds going towards the Sturge-Weber Foundation. Jeffrey E. Smith generously matched funds raised by the employees.
