Since 2005, the Jeffrey E. Smith Institute of Real Estate and Capital Markets has been committed to providing educational opportunities in real estate, finance and capital markets to students of the Robert J. Trulaske, Sr. College of Business. In addition to the real estate curriculum offered at the University of Missouri, the Smith Institute provides a variety of opportunities for students to learn from and network with professionals in the real estate community.
Support of the University of Missouri Investment Group (UMIG) is one such opportunity, which provides students with access to Wall Street Prep training and educational trips to New York, Chicago and Los Angeles for professional networking and career opportunities.
Students relish the opportunities provided to them as part of this organization. Ben Daniel, UMIG Vice President says, “The University of Missouri Investment Group has been without a doubt the single most influential organization on my collegiate and professional career. I was introduced to the group as a freshman and can confidently attest that I have learned more about the world of business through UMIG than the majority of my classes. Through the group, I have met people that will be inside my professional network for the entire course of my career, traveled to New York City and Chicago to build relationships with recruiters and companies, and have learned skills that simply cannot be taught inside a classroom. All of this has only been possible through the incredible generosity and support of the Smith Institute and JES Holdings. I cannot begin to fully express the positive impact UMIG has made on me and many others in the Mizzou community. There is no doubt in my mind that the Investment Group has changed my life for the better.”
The UMIG mission statement is to educate, train and place students in high-finance jobs across the country, and JES Holdings is committed to that mission as well. Ben Daniel, who is pursuing a degree in Accountancy through the Trulaske College of Business, joined the Affordable Equity Partners team as a Transactions Intern this summer.
“We cannot thank the Smith Institute and JES Holdings enough for their tremendous support,” Ben says. We are excited to have Ben working with us and look forward to watching his career grow.
