Jennings Place Ribbon Cutting

More than 100 people came together to celebrate the grand opening of Jennings Place, Jennings newest affordable independent senior living community located at 2360 Middle River Roads. The Honorable Yolanda Fountain Henderson, Mayor of Jennings, was the keynote speaker.

Mayor Henderson said she was proud to see quality developments on the new site, which she fondly remembered as a place for quality shopping and arcade games for kids.

Stacy Hastie of R.R. Jennings Developer, LLC, stated “There are a lot of projects just like this one around the state that are possible because of [LIHTC] tax credits. I point to one like this when people start talking about cuts. This is serving the community, and it is serving seniors.”

The new homes are already 100 percent leased with a waiting list of 300. The community offers one and two bedroom villa and apartment style homes with rents starting at $500 per month.  Residents of Jennings Place must be age and income qualified.

Jennings Place is one of the first major developments in Jennings in recent years. Due to the unrest in Ferguson and increasing calls for resources in these neighborhoods, the community represents one of the first successful endeavors since Michael Brown’s death.

“There’s no way this project would be successful or even in existence without collaboration between the city, the state and the developer,” Hastie said. “I have to thank Brian May and the governor’s office and the Missouri Housing Development Commission.”

The Missouri Housing Development Commission, Affordable Equity Partners, Inc., and R.R. Jennings Developer, LLC are among the participants and partners that developed this community.  Paraquad, a United Way of Greater St. Louis-funded agency, serves as the lead referral agency for individuals with special needs.
