On Tuesday, September 21, employees from the JES Holdings family of companies attended the annual Hoops for a Cause fundraiser, benefiting the Boys and Girls Clubs of Columbia. This unique event partners Boys and Girls Clubs kids with University of Missouri men’s and women’s basketball players, while providing an opportunity for community members to support both organizations. During the program, guests heard from University of Missouri head basketball coaches, Cuonzo Martin and Robin Pingeton, as well as from team players and Boys and Girls Clubs kids. The evening ended with a live auction of unique local experiences, sports tickets, memorabilia and much more. The event was a great success and ended up raising a grand total of $236,000!
JES Holdings was a “Three Point Sponsor” of the event and brought employee attendees, including Mark Bradshaw, Matt Covington, Tyler Davidson, Christie Haynes, Edith Kelley, Kait Kunnemann and Jill Lafferty.
“We were really excited to attend this year’s event and bring such a large group of employees and guests. Being able to share a table with Mizzou players and Club kids gives us an opportunity to learn first-hand about the Boys and Girls Clubs after-school programs and how much they mean to the kids,” said Matt Covington, who serves as the JES Holdings representative on the Boys and Girls Clubs board.
Since 1997, the Boys and Girls Clubs of Columbia has been providing a safe place for children to learn and grow. The Club now serves over 600 kids at four sites within the Columbia region. The Club is open during hours that kids are most likely to need a safe place to go — after school and during summer.
