The Jeffrey E. Smith Institute of Real Estate recently provided the resources to send a team of students to compete in the Midwest Real Estate Challenge in Chicago, Illinois, an event sponsored by the Harold E. Eisenberg Foundation. Five students spent February and March analyzing a development project adjacent to a new Whole Foods store in the Englewood area of Chicago. They submitted a 25-page proposal and then traveled to Chicago to make a final presentation to the panel of judges, where they placed second in the competition.

The team was accompanied by Dr. Dan French, Director of the Jeffrey E. Smith Institute of Real Estate and Kerri Hogan, Executive Assistant and Events Coordinator at the Robert J. Trulaske, Sr. College of Business at the University of Missouri.

“This was our first year to send a team, and we placed second of nine teams in the final round. Next year we’ll take first place! I want to express thanks to you for all that you do for the Smith Institute and for making this opportunity available to the Mizzou real estate students” stated Dr. French.
