The holiday season is an exciting time at The Village of Bedford Walk. This year, residents celebrated with a holiday open house, Christmas music festival, New Year’s Eve celebration and many more fun activities.
Our first event was Snowflakes and Cupcakes, a wintry open house for residents, friends and family. We had a photo booth, lots of food and, of course, cupcakes. The photo booth was a big hit, and the children loved the cupcake-decorating station in our Magnolia Room.
One of our residents, Paul, came to The Village of Bedford Walk team and asked to plan a musical Christmas performance for the other residents. The show featured Paul on the piano, other residents and even a few Bedford team members, including our Maintenance Technician, Rick, and Concierge, Lisa. It was a full house! Everyone enjoyed singing along to holiday classics, and we hope it will become an annual tradition.
To celebrate New Year’s Eve, we brought in professional Karaoke DJ, Bernard. Residents sang and danced while snacking on delicious food from Room 38 Restaurant & Lounge. We also had the TVs set to the Liberty Bowl football game so that we could cheer on the Missouri Tigers. We did not make it to midnight, but we wrapped up our party with a champagne toast and sang the traditional “Auld Lang Syne” song to celebrate.
In between these big events, we also celebrated the holiday season with a ‘Winter Punderland’ game, the return of Buddy the Elf (our Elf on the Shelf), an ugly holiday sweater social hour, musical performances from school children and even a party for the Bedford team, put together by our thoughtful residents.
Our holiday decorations have come down now but we had a wonderful holiday season, and now we are ready for 2019!
